It is December. Snow is forecast. Which means that now it's time for the LJ Christmas Gift Meme! (Snagged from just about everywhere.)

Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your blog. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My Holiday Wishes:

1. Christmas cards. Cards are ALWAYS fun! :)

2. Create an LJ icon for me. I'd especially love icons of Alice Ripley, Emily Skinner, Julianne Moore, next to normal, and...oh heck, I'll fess up...Sex and the City.

3. Mix CDs (or downloads) of some of your favorite music - or stuff you think I'd like. Im pretty flexible...though not really a fan of heavy metal, 80s hair bands, or rap.

4. Send me a photograph of something that makes you happy. (I like Cal's idea here. Email is cool.)

5. Donate to HRC or MENY (or your local state marriage equality chapter) to assist with the fight for equality for ALL.

6. Donate to BCEFA.

7. Barnes and Noble gift cards! (Since I'm getting a nook, I'm needing to populate it with new and my favorite books in electronic form!)

8. Gift cards for the Angelika Film Center or an AMC Entertainment card.

9. Cast Recordings - download is fine. If you know I love the show, I probably have it. Surprise me...introduce me to something new!

10. Random theatre memorabilia you have extra of or don't want anymore.

If you need to get in touch with me, leave a comment for my email. :)

Pass it along!

...but not in Brooklyn from what I can tell. Or not in Bed-Stuy. At least it wasn't the last time I looked. :( I WANT SNOW LIKE THE REST OF NYC SEEMS TO HAVE!!!!!

Anyhoodles...

Things seem to be going ok I think. School is school. I'm surviving. Which is better than not surviving I suppose. Right? Thirteen school days left and we're on break! Woohoo!!!

I'll be around here the 24th...packing and stuff. I think I'm going to go in and see the Tim Burton exhibit at MoMA. They were out of entries the day Mom and Daddy and I went. I figure if I grab a ticket for the first time it should be cool. Christmas Eve service that night. Then on Christmas Day out to JFK by 1:30 or so for my flight to Nashville. I'll be there through the 30th and come home that evening. Amazingly I got a decent-priced flight. Woo!!

NO plans for NYE at this point. Keeping my options open I guess. LOL.

January 3 I've already got a ticket for the evening show of next to normal (bought that when that was was far out as they were selling tickets for the LONGEST time...now they're selling them further out). I'm planning to get a ticket for the closing show of The Marvelous Wonderettes, which will be the matinee. Do that after payday. Several shows are going down that day...Wonderettes is the one I care most about. And so I will go see it. I hope.

This past week on Thursday I got to see next to normal again! :) My friend Carli had a tdf ticket and she was really tired, so she let me have it and I'll pay her back when we get our teacher's choice reimbursement which should happen the 10th for those of us smart enough to have direct deposit. :) It was great! They were all on fire! Especially Alice, but what's new about that? :P

Today I went to see The Private Lives of Pippa Lee at the Angelika Film Center. I'd never been there, and I really like it. It's very art house - indie movies and the like. It's kind of cool to occasionally hear a subway train rumble overhead. :) Very New York! And the movie was really good too. I just got the book from the library (I think they had to restock because when I first heard about the movie I looked for it and don't recall seeing it) and started it last night. I'm not tremendously far in it, but to the point where I am, the movie was VERY true to the book. I guess that's an advantage of letting the author write the screenplay and direct, huh? Julianne Moore has a smallish part in it, and she continues to amaze me with her chameleon-like way of sliding into such different roles. PLUS in previews we saw one for A Single Man which stars her and Colin Firth and looks fucking AMAZING!!! Definitely checking that one out ASAP!! (I think it comes out December 11.)

Now I'm watching The nightmare Before Christmas for the first time. I know, I know. But at least I'm finally watching it!

Hmmm... I'm hungry and trying to decide if I should eat some Joe's O's, some oatmeal, or go get chips or something from the bodega. Course the latter would require getting dressed after my nice hot shower, so that may fall by the wayside. I should eat something...I haven't had that much today now that I think about it. Tea with honey for breakfast...Reese's Pieces and a diet coke at the movie...TJ's instant mac and cheese...and applesauce. No wonder I'm hungry. Should go remedy that. LOL.
