December 19th, 2009

This is one of those days that just doesn't feel like Saturday. I know it is...I saw Hair last night and the ticket says Friday. My phone says it's Saturday. But it just feels like it's not...like I missed a day of work and shouldn't have. I know it's totally illogical...just one of those weird things.

Last night I headed into the city right after school. I was meeting up with Monica to lottery Hair. Don't worry...I'm taking my time getting to know her. My lesson has been well learned. SHE already has her own ins - she does photos sometimes for BWW - so there is no need for her to sneak and deceive her way in. BIG plus! Anyway...I headed over to Old Navy. I needed to get some glittens (those gloves with the finger tips cut out but the mitten top that folds back) and I figured they would have them. I figured wrong. I thought I remembered seeing some in one of those "we have everything" stores that you usually find in Chinatown but this one's on 8th around 35th or 36th. So I headed that way. They did. And though the tag said $9.99, they were only $4!! SCORE! I do wish they had foldy tips for the thumbs because it's hard to text with gloved thumbs, but overall I'm glad. Then I had time to kill so I grabbed munchies at Schnipper's. Got a caramel brulee latte at the Starbucks on 43rd and 8th where they are ALWAYS super friendly and great about making sure your drink is fine and stuff. Wandered around for a little while - went to check tkts to see if I should think about Race or Finian's Rainbow as a rush back-up plan - and finally wandered back over to the Hair lottery.

And got pulled. So we got to see it. Apparently they fill one box then the other because we were the last row in the right box. But still...we were there. Yay!

We were cold, so we wandered up to the Marquis to hit the Starbucks there and hang out on the 8th floor until time for the show. Well...let's just say that Starbucks could learn a thing or two from the one at 43rd and 8th. First off, my cashier didn't call my drink. I thought the person behind him indicated that she had it, so I didn't say anything. I walked over to the waiting area. The guy behind the bar was like "Do you have a drink ordered?" I said yes and told him what it was. He looked at the marked drinks and then rather than ask the cashier if I'd ordered the drink, he asked ME for a receipt! ME! Thankfully even though I'd paid cash they gave me one, so I pulled it out. Showed it to him. He SNATCHED it from me and threw it away. I asked for it back - mainly so I could get the store number to write Starbucks about it. Which I did today. I'm sorry. I don't care if you HAVE had people stealing drinks. You do NOT ask the customer to produce a receipt when you could ask the cashier if they ordered something. Oh, and he never even said anything to the cashier about not calling the drink. So obviously this will happen again to others. So for the foreseeable future, I'll be going to any other Starbucks in the area besides that one - and would encourage the NYers on my list who might go there to avoid this one unless you like being accused of trying to steal drinks.

Then we headed over to Hair and had a blast. Will was out. Not totally sold on Steel...but he did ok. The tempos were ALL up from Tuesday night. Don't know if it's because last night was the 300th show and they had somewhere to go after or what. But it was still all good. This show is growing on me. :)

Here's a pic I took from after. Note the new glasses and the flower in my hair! :)

Got up this morning and went to Trader Joe's because I actually needed food. Not because I was freaked about this alleged snow that we're supposed to be getting. But I can say I NEVER want to hear northerners make fun of southerners going to the store to stock up when the s-word is mentioned. I got there a little after 9 and had to wait for a basket. And people were NOT doing holiday shopping for the most part.

And I've done nothing since I got home. LOL. Wel, nothing but look forlornly out the window at the dust that keeps blowing around out there. If it's going to snow, I want it to SNOW. Not this piddling around it's done so far.

Now I'm just sitting here doing this and watching Grey's Anatomy on the DVR. Yay!
